Meet the Lahmacun show hosts behind the radio programme! MADE IN is a radio talk show that explores the community of Latin American artists in Budapest.

Where did the idea of creating a radio show come from, and how did the collaboration with the radio start?
I have a degree in Social Communication with a specialization in Audiovisual Media, and in Venezuela, I worked in both public and private radio. I was the general producer and logistics coordinator during the creation of Corpozulia 95.1 FM. I was also the host of the morning news show, with informative capsules throughout the day. I was in charge of approving the programming grid and musical content, and I co-hosted a talk show called El Show de las Cuerdas with a colleague. In 2014, I was responsible for the programming and narration of the Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup broadcasts.

Later, I worked as a general producer at Radio Telesur in Moquegua, Peru, where I also did the news for both the radio and its affiliated TV station.

The collaboration with Lahmacun began thanks to Rozman Mate, my partner, who, knowing my background and experience, encouraged me to return to broadcasting. After migrating, I focused more on the work that provided me with legal status and stability here in Budapest, which is why I hadn’t worked in radio since 2017.

What is the show about? What can listeners expect when they tune in?
Made In was born from the absence of a dedicated space for migrants—especially Latin Americans—living in Budapest. It’s an interview-based program that helps us get to know more about migrant individuals: where they come from, how they’ve evolved, and what we can expect from them in the future.

What does the title of the show mean?
Made In highlights where each guest comes from. Each episode is named after the interviewee’s hometown. Many of us migrate and end up not practicing the careers we studied in our home countries. That’s why I want to honor the effort of every guest.

Who is behind the show?
Ellen Madueño—a journalist, chef, master of ceremonies, and singer. Born and raised in Venezuela to a Venezuelan mother and a Peruvian father, now living in Budapest since 2017.

What is important to know about you?
I believe the previous answers give a glimpse into my vision: I aim to support anyone doing something positive and legal for the immigrant community in Budapest. I want people to understand that being from a different continent doesn’t define us by our politics, religion, beliefs, skin color, or language—but by our values and our intention to improve this society through honest work and sacrifice, all while dealing with the pain of having our families, friends, and homes far away.

In a personal aspect: im a singer, i started being the female singer of Jazzamban (a latin band in Budapest) i was part of them from 2021-2024. Singing every weekend in La Bodeguita (cuban restaurant in the city center)

Also, in may last year I preformed an amazing concert with the Cervantes institute and the peruvian embassy, in honor of Pedro Vargas Llosa (literature’s novel winner) with folkloric peruvian music.

After that, i started to sing more often, we had few concerts in Zsivago Café with our event: Noches Criollas… with Alex torres and Anthony Medina from Perú. im singing on fridays in Lucille blues, kitchen & bar… acustic sets with an amazing musician Nico, from Colombia.

Im also in my Dj era, playing b2b with A.L. Mostly music from latin artists (indie, acid, house and more)

Now, with a friend im starting my small project called HACIENDA BUDAPEST. Where we want to create a community and make parties bringing djs from everywhere possible. Our first event is on July 11, in the concert hall of A38 Hajó called: Un verano en Budapest (the real latin party)

People says that im like the barbie (because im doing many different things, beside my office job at Thermofisher as a Senior customer care for Spain, take care of my 6 month old puppy Sisi and help my parents in Venezuela)

I also make cakes for birthdays and my famous bites (small cake balls with cookies and chocolate topping)

What musical style does the show represent?
The music is entirely chosen by the guest. I ask them to share a playlist of songs that motivate them and make them happy. ⸻ How are the show covers created? I wanted something basic and simple, with a striking color. I created them using Canva.

Amen break or 4/4?
4/4 but sometimes i let my latina vibe come out with some venezuelan pop, boleros, reggaeton, salsa and domenican dembow.

Pepsi or Cola?
I confess I’m addicted to Coca-Cola.

You’ve had a radio show in Venezuela. How is it different to host a radio show here in Hungary?
The main difference is the language, and the fact that here, because it’s a small radio station, everything is more personal and intimate—in a warm booth. In Venezuela, radio booths are usually cold cabins (separating the host from the operator with a glass window). Venezuelan radio is very broad, as public transport users are its main audience. Program continuity and variety are essential. Sadly, the government has forced nearly 70% of private radio stations to shut down for “not following” the Chavista and socialist editorial line. As a result, nowadays, most FM stations only broadcast government-approved content. Many of my colleagues and fellow countrymen have been forced to migrate in order to continue working in radio—especially in my hometown, Maracaibo, where many top radio hosts are now revitalizing radio through continuous YouTube streaming in Florida, United States.
